Vocational Training
This was commenced in September 2003 by introducing “Carpentry Trade” and subsequently in December 2004 “Electrician” trade was added. The boys in age group 10 and above are attending to workshop for training in the above two trades presently.
Carpentry: Boys in “carpentry” are picking up skill well. They are able to fabricate utility articles viz. tables of different designs; stools; teapai; racks etc. under the guidance of instructor in a span of (18) months (attending 4 hours per week), while pursuing the basic education.Electrician Trade : Boys under the guidance of instructor, having understood the basics of the trade, are in a position to take up wiring work to a new (2 story) building under construction in BKG campus, in a span of (12) months while pursuing basic education.
NEW TRADES : Welding and plumbing are under consideration to introduce depending on availability of funds.
FUTURE PLAN : Production-cum-Technical training wing, for unemployed chenchu youth to work in tandem with (VTC), is proposed to initiate in the current year itself if funds are made available. This wing consists of initially (4) long term (2½ years) courses and minimum (5) short term courses (duration ranging from 15 to 180 days)
Long term courses : Carpentry, welding; electrician and plumbing trades.
Short term Courses: Bee keeping; motor rewinding; book binding; lamination; repair and maintenance of two wheelers; repair of bicycles; repair of domestic electric appliances; nursery growing of medicinal plants; repair of agriculture implements and courses suiting modern trends and repairs of pumps & motors (including bore wells ).
